Chicago
Food Policy Advisory Council Hosts
5th Annual Food Policy Summit
Concerned citizens are invited
to join us in
"Growing Healthy Food Systems: Block by Block"
(Chicago,
IL.) Join food activists from across Chicagoland to
find ways to bring healthy, sustainably-grown food to the table.
The day-long event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday,
March 12 at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd. The summit will
be kicked off by keynote speakers Governor Pat Quinn (invited)
and Roots of Change Director Michael Dimock. Participants will
also share a delicious breakfast and lunch provided by local
food artisans. The majority of the day will be spent participating
in policy-action working groups and activating neighborhood
councils.
"This is a year for putting our efforts into action, working
together to build strategies and resources that are supported
by policy changes at the city, state, and federal level; so
that all the integrated efforts to solve food deserts, health
disparities, and social justice can be addressed; so that we
may preserve our natural resources and reduce our cities carbon
footprint." Erika Allen, CFPAC Co-Chair, Growing Power
Chicago Projects Manager.
This year's summit will be held in conjunction with the Family
